The reenactment of the Battle of New Market drew approximately 1,200 Confederate participants under the command of General Greg Bair, and roughly 800 Federals.

This year’s 145th Anniversary of the Battle of New Market, Virginia, was held May 15-17 on the site of that 1864 clash between Federal Maj. Gen. Franz Siegel and Confederate General John Brekenridge.

As any veteran reenactor knows, the first rule of thumb about this annual event is to bring your rain gear, and this year was certainly no exception.

Some believe it is destined to rain because it did so at the original battle, creating such iconic sites on the battlefield as the ‘field of lost shoes" where soldiers had their shoes stripped from their feet by   <<Full Story >>
